Are the SMBI the milking cow of the Redland Shire? If so, what can we do about it , have your say.

Mark Edwards and Frank Bradley have been very active in the rates increase issue that concerns all the Southern Moreton Bay Islanders.
Below are extracts, speeches, the radical new Council Foreshore Development and the Redland Bay MasterPlan October 2008.

 

Frank Bradley August 2008 - RATE PAYERS OF SMBI

Are you concerned with the 22% rate increase that we now have to pay while the mainland has only 11% rate increase?

Are you concerned with the limited General Rate increase of no more than 12% on the mainland and up to 40% on our islands?

Are you concerned that our rates will be added to the General Revenue instead of into an SMBI Special General Reserve as has happened in the past?

Are you concerned that we will not know where the money will be allocated from General Revenue? If the rate money was collected under a Special Charge then EVERY cent collected from SMBI rates must be accounted for and spent on the islands!
